THIS GALENTINE'S DAY HOP ON A BOAT WITH HORNBLOWER NY
Whether you have that special someone, or are single and ready to mingle, a cruise on the Hudson River is the perfect way to spend Valentine's Day weekend.
If you're like me and are rolling solo this Love Day don't fret! Something that's even better than Valentine's Day is...Galentine's Day! It's quite possibly the most fun way to celebrate February 14th (and the days leading up to it).
"It's only the best day of the year. My lady friends and I just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies." - Leslie Knope (Parks & Rec)
The weather in New York in mid-February isn't usually ideal but no matter, you can still head out to Pier 40 for an unlimited brunch cruise with Hornblower New York. After getting your 'boarding pass' you're overwhelmed with a sense of anticipation as you walk up the gangway to the yacht. Will the buffet be fully stocked, will I get an awesome view of Manhattan, wait...is this actually bottomless? The answer to all these questions, and more, is yes!
After arriving, a little DIY mimosa set-up was waiting at our table, chilled bottle of champagne on ice included! Post celebratory cheers we headed over to the food stations where Hornblower did not disappoint! Everything you could possibly want for a bottomless brunch was waiting.
There was a build-your-own omelet stations, waffle station with toppings galore, hot buffet (including frittatas, french toast, breakfast meats, eggs benny, and more) and a yogurt parfait and pastry table. The most impressive of all, the chocolate fondue fountain with 10 different fruit and dessert dippers!
A live band was set up in front of the dance floor, and just in case the bottomless mimosas weren't enough there was also a full bar.
The yacht looped around Lower Manhattan a couple times for two hours giving us breathtaking (albeit grey) views of downtown. We even stopped in front of the Statue of Liberty for a prime photo opp session as the band played 'New York, New York' by Frank Sinatra.
There was dancing throughout the entirety of the cruise, but about 30 minutes before docking people really hit the dance floor as the DJ starting playing a set which included 'Cha Cha Slide' by DJ Casper, 'Sorry' by Justin Bieber and 'Wobble' by V.I.C. It's funny how music really brings people together.
As we returned to the pier we were having such a good time dancing, people watching and sipping on mimosas that we stayed on the yacht until the crew had to tell us to leave!
Overall it was a fabulous way to spend a Sunday Funday and something I would highly recommend, not only to couples but groups of friends as well. In addition to this Valentine's Brunch Cruise Hornblower offers a multitude of other options throughout the year.
I can't wait to head back down to the Chelsea Piers to get on another cruise when the weather gets warmer. Then we can really crank things up a notch!
